The Grand Seiko Tentagraph ref. SLGC001 is one of the most important contemporary sports watches in the modern Grand Seiko line, not only because of its assertive Evolution 9 case design, but because it marks the arrival of the brand’s first mechanical chronograph. Executed in High-Intensity Titanium with a ceramic tachymeter bezel, it combines lightness, sharp surface treatment, and real functional presence on the wrist. Its blue dial, inspired by Mt. Iwate under a snowy moonlit sky, gives the watch a visual identity that is recognizably Grand Seiko: technical in construction, but deeply tied to landscape, atmosphere, and light. What makes the SLGC001 especially compelling is the movement inside. The calibre 9SC5 operates at 10 beats per second and delivers a power reserve of approximately 72 hours, even with the chronograph running, an unusually strong result for a high-beat mechanical chronograph. Combined with twin barrels, the Dual Impulse Escapement, and a chronograph architecture built around precise, stable operation, the Tentagraph reads as far more than a first attempt. It is a serious and highly accomplished Grand Seiko chronograph: modern, sharply engineered, and already a landmark reference within the Evolution 9 collection.
