The Patek Philippe Calatrava ref. 570 A is one of the great oversized vintage Calatravas, made even more compelling here by its stainless-steel case and early manually wound calibre 12'''120. The large circular case, with its flat bezel, downturned lugs, and snap-on back, gives the watch a broader and more assertive presence than most mid-century dress references, while retaining the restraint and elegance that define the Calatrava line. Its silvered matte dial is especially refined, combining applied white-gold Arabic and dot numerals with an outer minute track, white-gold baton hands, and a subsidiary seconds display that preserves the pure balance of the design. Inside, the calibre 12'''120 brings the kind of traditional movement architecture collectors look for in early Patek Philippe, with nickel finishing, Côtes de Genève, a bimetallic cut compensation balance, Breguet overcoil hairspring, and swan-neck micrometric regulator. In stainless steel, the ref. 570 A expresses a rarer, more discreet side of vintage Patek Philippe; understated in material, but highly important in both design and collecting terms. This piece is for pure connaisseurs, the production of Stainless steel versions are extremely low and rare. Comes with Extract of archives that tells us that this piece has been manufactured in 1945 and delivered same year on December 27 th. We dropped the watch by Patek Philippe Geneva for a full service, the dial has been fully restored by the manufacture and a new alligator strap and stainless steel tang buckle has been placed.
