The IWC Vintage Aquatimer Automatic 1967 in white gold is one of those watches that becomes more interesting the longer one looks at it. At first glance, it reads as a faithful revival of the original twin-crown Aquatimer, with its internal rotating bezel, clear instrument-style dial, and unmistakably functional silhouette. But in this execution, everything is shifted upward in tone: the white-gold case gives the watch an unexpected density and refinement, while the ardoise dial adds a quieter, more nuanced presence than the black-dial steel model. Presented on a black rubber strap, it takes on an especially compelling character. What makes this piece so successful is that it never feels like a simple retro exercise. The 44 mm case gives the design real modern authority, yet the concept remains true to the 1967 Aquatimer idea, with the second crown operating the internal bezel and the dial staying clean, legible, and purposeful.
