Vacheron Constantin introduced the caliber 1003 in 1955 to mark the manufacture's 200th anniversary, and at 1.64mm thick it stood as the world's thinnest mechanical movement of its time, a record it would hold for years. The reference 6099 was created as the case for this movement, its faceted, triangular lugs evoking a fragment of the Maltese cross that serves as the brand's emblem.
This example pairs the manufacture's Geneva Seal-certified caliber 1003 with an 18k yellow gold case and a dial featuring applied gold relief hour markers, exactly as recorded on its accompanying Certificat d'Origine. Presented on a brown alligator strap, it's a hallmark of mid-century Genevan watchmaking restraint, prized as much for what was left out as for what's there.
The watch is delivered with all items shown in the photographs, together with its original Certificate of Origin.
