The Omega Speedmaster HODINKEE 10th Anniversary ref. 311.32.40.30.06.001 is one of the most distinctive Speedmaster limited editions of the late 2010s. Released in 2018 in only 500 pieces, it was created to celebrate the 10th anniversary of HODINKEE and uses the 39.7 mm First Omega in Space / CK2998-style case as its foundation. The result is a Speedmaster that feels compact, historically rooted, and highly collectible, while offering a dial design unlike the standard Moonwatch.
Its personality comes from the dial. Instead of the traditional black Speedmaster layout, this edition uses a dark grey / blue-grey dial with colourful accents inspired by the Speedmaster MK40. The red chronograph seconds hand with yellow tip, the special red register hands, and the blue-and-black running seconds subdial give the watch a dynamic, almost instrument-like character. At the same time, the tachymeter bezel, three-register chronograph layout, and manual-winding calibre keep it firmly within the Speedmaster lineage.
Inside is the Omega calibre 1861, the hand-wound chronograph movement that powered many of the most recognizable modern Speedmaster Professional references before the arrival of the calibre 3861. With approximately 48 hours of power reserve, a 3 Hz frequency, and the classic chronograph display, it gives the watch a direct mechanical link to the Moonwatch tradition. The closed caseback, engraved with the Seahorse motif and limited-edition numbering, reinforces the commemorative nature of the piece without disturbing the clean Speedmaster profile.
What makes this model especially appealing is the balance between familiarity and individuality. It has all the essential Speedmaster ingredients: steel case, tachymeter bezel, manual chronograph movement, and strong wrist presence. Yet the HODINKEE edition adds a more personal and colourful visual language, connected to the MK40 inspiration and to the story of modern watch collecting.
