Omega built the original Railmaster in 1957 for scientists, technicians and anyone working near strong magnetic fields, launching it the same year as the Speedmaster and the Seamaster 300. Those three references are now known as the 1957 trilogy, and this Railmaster is Omega's 60th-anniversary tribute to it, produced as a numbered limited edition of 3,557 pieces. It keeps the utilitarian broad-arrow hands, the 3/6/9/12 layout and the "tropical" black dial with warm, aged Super-LumiNova, while a domed sapphire crystal quietly stands in for the vintage acrylic.
Under the solid screw-down caseback sits the Master Chronometer calibre 8806: a Co-Axial movement with a silicon balance spring, METAS-certified and resistant to magnetic fields beyond 15,000 gauss, where the 1957 original managed around 1,000. The screw-down Naïad crown seals more tightly as pressure rises, a period-correct detail carried over from the first series. At 38mm it wears exactly as a Fifties field watch should.
