The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak ref. 15300OR was introduced in the mid-2000s as the successor to the legendary ref. 15202, growing Gerald Genta's original design from 39 mm while housing the thicker, in-house calibre 3120 in place of the ultra-thin movements used in the Jumbo. Positioned between the 15202 and the later 41 mm ref. 15400, the 15300 occupies a distinctive middle ground in the Royal Oak lineage and has gained increasing appreciation among collectors since its discontinuation.
The 18k rose gold case, black Grande Tapisserie dial and signature octagonal bezel with its eight polished screws give the watch the unmistakable Royal Oak silhouette, while the warm gold tone against the black alligator strap lends it a dressier, more refined character than its steel counterparts. Powered by the automatic calibre 3120 with a 22k gold rotor visible through the sapphire case back, the watch delivers 60 hours of power reserve in a slim, comfortable package. This 2007 example on its original black leather strap represents one of the more understated and elegant configurations of the rose gold Royal Oak from this generation.
