The reference 18238 arrived in 1988 as the fifth generation of the Day-Date, the model Rolex introduced in 1956 as the first wristwatch to display the day spelled out in full alongside the date. This series brought the caliber 3155, notable for its Double Quickset function that let the wearer independently adjust the day and date via the crown without cycling through the time, a meaningful convenience upgrade over its predecessor.
This example carries the black pyramid dial, its faceted guilloché surface catching light differently depending on the angle, an effect only fully visible in hand. Set on the 18k gold President bracelet with fluted bezel and sapphire crystal, it represents the classic solid-gold Day-Date silhouette in one of its more textural, collector-favored dial variants.
The watch is delivered with all items shown in the photographs.
