The reference 16618 brought the Submariner into solid 18k yellow gold with a blue dial and matching bezel, a colorway collectors nicknamed "Bluesy" for its vivid, saturated tone against the gold case. This example dates to 1992, produced well before Rolex moved to the Cerachrom-bezel generation in the mid-2000s, and it now sits as a discontinued reference, prized for the depth of color only earlier aluminum bezel inserts and sunburst dials of this type could produce.
This example carries the blue sunburst dial with luminous baton markers, set in the 40mm solid gold case on the matching gold Oyster bracelet with flip-lock clasp. It pairs genuine dive-watch specification and a unidirectional bezel with the unmistakable presence of yellow gold.
