The Datejust, introduced in 1945, was the first self-winding wristwatch to display the date in a window on the dial, and the reference 16233 represents its two-tone steel-and-gold generation from the late 1980s through the 2000s. This example dates to 1996. The fluted 18k gold bezel and Jubilee bracelet's polished gold center links are the defining visual cues of this configuration, distinguishing it from the all-steel Datejust references of the same era.
This example carries the classic white dial with gold Roman numerals, powered by the caliber 3135, a movement so reliable it went on to serve as the backbone of Rolex's sports models for decades. Fitted to the two-tone Jubilee bracelet, it represents one of the most recognizable and versatile references in the Datejust family.
