The Rolex GMT-Master II ref. 126710BLNR was introduced in 2019 as the successor to the 116710BLNR, the watch that brought the black and blue ceramic bezel to the collection in 2013. That first generation was fitted with an Oyster bracelet and was quickly nicknamed ‘Batman’ by the watch community. The new reference was offered on a Jubilee bracelet only, and collectors started calling it ‘Batgirl’ to tell the two apart. Rolex brought back the Oyster option in 2021, so the name now belongs to the Jubilee version. The GMT-Master itself dates from 1954, when it was developed for Pan American pilots who needed to read two time zones at once.
This example dates from May 2026 and has a 40mm Oystersteel case, a black dial with Chromalight indices and a bi-directional 24-hour bezel in black and blue Cerachrom. Inside is the calibre 3285, which replaced the 3186 and offers about 70 hours of power reserve, against about 48 for its predecessor. It uses the Chronergy escapement. The five-piece Jubilee bracelet has an Oysterlock safety clasp with the 5mm Easylink extension. This makes it an easy daily watch that can also follow a second time zone.
