The Daytona was introduced in 1963 as a chronograph for racing drivers, and its gold versions have always been the ones that ask for the most confident wrist. At Baselworld in 2017 Rolex showed three gold Daytonas on the Oysterflex strap, a bracelet built around a metal blade coated in black elastomer, and the reference 116515LN is the Everose version, with a black Cerachrom bezel that carries the tachymeter scale in pink gold.
The dial decides the character of this one. Sundust is a metallic, bronze toned pink that shifts with the light, and the black subdials set into it read as three dark circles against a warm field. Inside runs calibre 4130, Rolex’s own self winding chronograph, with a power reserve of around 72 hours. This example from 2022 belongs to the last years of the reference, which Rolex replaced in 2023 with a version whose counters and hour markers were resized and restyled.
