Jaeger-LeCoultre designed the Reverso in 1931 with a case that flips inside its cradle, so polo players could turn the dial away and protect it behind a blank back. The Duoface, launched in 1994, gave that blank back a purpose: a second dial and a second time zone, both driven by a single movement. This is the yellow gold 270.1.54, the version that wears silver guilloché on both faces rather than the black home dial of the steel models, the "Day" and "Night" lettering giving it its nickname.
The front reads home time with small seconds at six and blued steel hands over a guilloché ground. Turn the case and the reverse shows a second time zone with a 24-hour day-and-night subdial, its hour hand advanced independently by a pusher on the case. Inside is the manually wound calibre 854. At 26 by 42mm in gold, it is the Grande Taille, the size the Reverso wears best.
