Longines was founded in 1832 and became one of the great names in the early chronograph. This is one of its monopusher pocket chronographs, worked by a single button so the sweep seconds can be started, stopped and returned to zero, over a white enamel dial with subsidiary registers and blued steel hands. The dial is signed Longines, Fab. Suisse.

What sets it apart are the scales around the edge, marked "calculé par 100 mètres" and "par 1000 mètres de distance." This is a telemeter: start the chronograph when you see an event and stop it when you hear it, and the hand reads off the distance, the old way of gauging how far away a storm, or a gun, really was. In a 50mm steel case, it is a proper instrument of its era.

The watch is delivered with all items shown in the photographs.
