Released in 2014 to mark Patek Philippe's 175th anniversary, the reference 5975 pays tribute to the scientific and medical chronographs of the early 20th century, when a chronograph's dial carried as much technical information as it did time. Rather than the conventional subdials of a modern chronograph, the 5975 forgoes them entirely, arranging its telemeter, tachymeter and pulsometer scales in concentric rings around a clean central display.
This example is cased in 18k rose gold, one of just 400 examples in this metal, powered by the caliber CH 28-520, a column-wheel chronograph movement with a vertical clutch developed specifically for this reference. The silvered opaline dial carries the scales in black print, read against gold dauphine hands and applied indices. Fitted to a brown alligator strap with a special 175th Anniversary rose gold deployant clasp, it's a genuinely limited, occasion-specific piece from Patek's own commemorative history.
