The reference 5960 was presented by Patek Philippe in January 2006 in platinum, with a grey dial, as the first self-winding chronograph that the house developed and built entirely in its own workshops. The calibre CH 28-520 combines a flyback chronograph with a column wheel and a disk clutch with an annual calendar, so that the watch needs to be corrected by hand only once a year, on the first of March. The blue dial of the 5960P-015 followed later in the same metal and was made from 2010 to 2014.

The blue is what makes this one stand out, because it turns a complicated watch into a calm one. The three calendar windows sit along the top of the dial with the day at left, the date beside it and the month above, and the chronograph has only one counter at six, which combines elapsed hours and minutes with a day and night indicator. All of it is held in a platinum case of 40.5mm whose sapphire back shows the movement of 456 parts. One thing is worth knowing before you adjust it: the date changes between eight in the evening and two in the morning, and it should not be set by hand in that window.
