Introduced in 2006, the reference 5960 marked a genuine turning point for Patek Philippe: its first annual calendar paired with a chronograph, and the manufacture's first automatic chronograph movement developed entirely in-house, ending decades of reliance on Lemania-based ébauches. The caliber CH 28-520 IRM QA 24H combines a flyback function with a vertical clutch and column wheel, finished with a 21k gold rotor visible through the sapphire display back.
This example is cased in platinum, the metal Patek reserves for its most serious statements, with a grey dial displaying day, date, and month in apertures across the top, a combined 60-minute and 12-hour chronograph counter at 6, and a power reserve indicator at 12. Fitted to a grey leather strap with Patek Philippe-signed platinum deployant clasp, it represents one of Patek's most technically significant modern references.
