Gérald Genta designed the Nautilus in 1976, drawing its porthole-inspired case from a ship's watertight door hinge, and the reference 5711 became the modern flagship of that design before its 2021 discontinuation. The 5711/1R-001, introduced in 2015, marked the first time this time-and-date configuration had been offered in rose gold, giving the sports-luxury icon a warmer, more formal presence without altering the silhouette that made it famous.
This example carries the brown gradient dial with the Nautilus's signature horizontal embossing, paired with applied rose gold hour markers and hands. The self-winding caliber 324 S C, visible through the sapphire display back, is finished to Patek Philippe Seal standards and runs the case, bezel and integrated bracelet in a single 18k rose gold execution. Collectors continue to seek out this reference as one of the last straightforward time-and-date versions of the 5711 before the line ended.
