The Rolex Datejust, launched in 1945 to mark Rolex’s 40th anniversary, is the model that arguably defines the brand more than any other, combining an Oyster case with an automatically changing date at 3 o’clock. The Datejust ref. 6305 1 sits in the formative mid 1950s generation and belongs to the reeded bezel Datejust series produced from 1953 to 1956. The reference is nicknamed Ovettone for its rounded, egg like caseback profile, which gives the watch a thicker and more sculptural stance than later Datejust generations. In this configuration, the pink gold case and Jubilee bracelet create a vivid, warm tone that contrasts sharply with a black lacquer dial. The dial execution is defined by applied indexes and dauphine hands with luminous material, giving the watch a strong period identity while remaining unmistakably Datejust. The watch is in mint condition and comes with its service box.
