M.A.D.Editions began as MB&F's side project, a way to offer friends, suppliers and long-time partners a watch carrying MB&F's kinetic, sculptural design language without the manufacture's usual five- or six-figure price tag. What started as a handful of gifts slowly grew into its own brand, distributed not through boutiques but through a raffle system, registrations open for a set window, with the draw supervised by a bailiff to keep the process transparent.
The M.A.D.2, designed by Eric Giroud, reimagines the concept entirely for 2025 around 1990s club culture: two raised, rotating sub-discs display jumping hours and trailing minutes, styled to resemble the turntables of a DJ mixing console, while the textured central plate evokes vinyl grooves. Around the dial's edge, a spinning platter references the stroboscopic band of a classic Technics SL-1200 turntable, powered by the movement's own oscillating rotor, so every flick of the wrist sets it turning. This "R&B" edition, short for Red & Black, and a nod to the music genre, pairs a midnight-black dial and strap with vivid red hour and minute discs. Powered by the Swiss-made La Joux-Perret G101 caliber with a bespoke jumping-hour module developed in-house by MB&F, it's a piece built as much around a story and a distribution ritual as around horology itself.
