The Reverso was created in 1931 to solve a very specific problem: British officers in colonial India kept cracking the crystals of their wristwatches during polo matches. The solution was a case that swivels 180 degrees on its base, hiding the dial behind a solid metal back, and the Art Deco lines of that original design, the stepped case sides and gadrooned edges, remain unchanged to this day.
This example is the compact Reverso Lady, in a 20 x 33mm steel case with a clean white dial, Arabic numerals, and blued steel hands, powered by a quartz movement for easy daily wear. Fitted to a tan leather strap with contrast stitching, it's a smaller, more understated take on the Reverso's Art Deco heritage.
