The Reverso was created in 1931 to solve a very specific problem: British officers in colonial India kept cracking the crystals of their wristwatches during polo matches. The solution was a case that swivels 180 degrees on its base, hiding the dial behind a solid metal back. The Grande "Sun Moon" variant builds on that Art Deco foundation with a genuinely useful pair of complications: an 8-day power reserve indicator and a day/night display paired with moonphase, both read against the caliber 873's twin-barrel manual movement.
This example is cased in 18k pink gold, with a silvered guilloché dial, painted Arabic numerals, and blued steel hands. The sapphire display back shows the movement's Côtes de Genève finishing and its two visible barrels, engraved "Duo Spring Barrels" and marked with the JLC star constellation motif. Fitted to a brown alligator strap with pink gold double-fold clasp, it's a technically substantial expression of the Reverso's Art Deco lines.
