The Patek Philippe Golden Ellipse ref. 3738/100R-001 from 2012 is a refined expression of one of the manufacture’s most distinctive dress-watch designs. Created around the harmonious proportions of the golden section, the Golden Ellipse has occupied a unique place in the Patek Philippe collection since 1968, neither round nor rectangular, but immediately recognizable. In this rose-gold version, the 31.1 x 35.6 mm case offers an elegant and discreet presence, while its ultra-thin profile gives the watch the purity and restraint expected from a classic Patek Philippe dress watch. The brown sunburst dial brings warmth and depth to the design, perfectly matched by the applied rose-gold indexes and rose-gold hands. There is no date, no seconds hand, and no complication to interrupt the balance of the dial; the appeal lies entirely in proportion, colour, and execution. Inside is the celebrated self-winding calibre 240, an ultra-thin automatic movement with a 22k gold micro-rotor and a power reserve of approximately 48 hours.
