The Rolex GMT-Master II ref. 126711CHNR is one of the most successful modern reinterpretations of a vintage Rolex theme because it brings the spirit of the historic Root Beer GMT into the contemporary Rolex world without turning it into nostalgia. Introduced in 2018 and already fully established by 2019, the watch combines the familiar travel-watch architecture of the GMT-Master II with a colour palette that feels warmer, richer, and more characterful than the usual black and blue or red and blue alternatives. The brown and black Cerachrom bezel is central to that appeal. It gives the watch a more relaxed and slightly more luxurious tone, while the Everose Rolesor case adds another layer of warmth that suits the design exceptionally well. What makes the 126711CHNR especially compelling is the balance it strikes between heritage and modernity. The Root Beer name comes from older GMT-Master references, but this watch is not a retro piece in the literal sense. It uses Rolex’s current technical platform, with the calibre 3285, a power reserve of approximately 70 hours, Cerachrom bezel technology, and the full practicality of the modern Oyster bracelet and Oysterlock clasp.
