The Élégante is F.P. Journe's most unexpected watch, and one of his cleverest. It looks like a quartz watch and keeps time like one, yet it was conceived by one of the greatest mechanical watchmakers alive and behaves like nothing else. A motion detector, its inertia weight visible on the dial, senses when the watch has sat still for thirty-five minutes and sends it to sleep, saving the battery for up to eighteen years. Pick it up and the hands race by the shortest path back to the correct time.
This is the 48mm titanium version, light and substantial in Journe's trademarked Flat Tortue case, with a fully luminescent white dial that glows in the dark, bold Arabic numerals and a small seconds. On an olive-green rubber strap, it is the rare watch that solves a real problem, the watch you can stop and start again, with all of Journe's finish and none of the fuss.
