Few Rolex references carry as much quiet weight as the Explorer, a model built in 1953 to commemorate the first successful ascent of Everest, and the 124270 restores that original identity by returning the case to 36mm after a decade spent at 39mm. The black dial's 3-6-9 Arabic numeral layout, a design signature unique to the Explorer, remains untouched, while Chromalight luminescence brings genuinely modern legibility to a dial that has changed remarkably little in seventy years. Underneath, the calibre 3230 replaces the long-serving 3130 with Rolex's Chronergy escapement and a 70-hour power reserve, giving this Explorer more stamina off the wrist than any generation before it. It's a rare case of Rolex looking backward and forward at the same time, and getting both right. The watch is delivered with all items shown in the photographs.
