Breitling introduced the Superocean in 1957, in the same decade that made the diving watch a serious tool. The brand had built its name on pilots and chronographs, and the Superocean was its answer for the sea. This edition adds a second story. The dial reads “Recherche Aéroportée 1963 2023” under the Superocean name, and the caseback carries the crest of the 13e Dragons together with a motto and an individual number out of 206.
That makes this Superocean more personal than the regular model. The black dial with a white minute ring and a grey ceramic bezel is the clean, legible layout the line is known for, with a red seconds hand as the only bright touch. At 42mm it has presence without being heavy, the Breitling 17 movement is certified as a chronometer, and the screw down crown and black rubber strap make it a watch that is happy to be used. Only 206 were made, and the engraved back turns it into something between a diver and a regimental keepsake, a Breitling that belongs to a unit as much as to its owner.
