When Audemars Piguet unveiled the Royal Oak Offshore Diver ref. 15710 at SIHH in 2015, its Méga Tapisserie dial was offered in white for the first time, and a year later the house carried that design from the wrist to the desk. This table clock from 2016 is a direct tribute to that watch. The octagonal bezel with its eight hexagonal screws, the satin finished steel and the black crowns of the diver all return, only the scale has changed.
What makes it interesting is how faithfully a wristwatch has been given a second life. The inner ring with its minute scale comes from the diver, the crown at 3 o’clock switches the alarm on and off, and the time and the alarm are set with two black knobs on the back. The movement is quartz, with separate battery compartments for the clock and for the alarm, and a support hinges out of the back so that it can stand without its base. That base is a block of black and natural wood themed on Le Brassus, the village where the house was founded in 1875.
