The A. Lange & Söhne of today is a revival. Ferdinand Adolph Lange founded the firm in Glashütte in Saxony in 1845, and after the Second World War the family company was expropriated in 1948. His great grandson Walter Lange started again after German reunification. On 7 December 1990 he founded Lange Uhren GmbH in Glashütte and registered the A. Lange & Söhne name worldwide, together with his business partner Günter Blümlein.

The new house showed its first collection on 24 October 1994 at the residential palace in Dresden. There were four watches: the Lange 1, the Saxonia, the Tourbillon ‘Pour le Mérite’ and the Arkade. The Arkade was the shaped one, with an arched top and a straight lower edge. Dealers link that outline to the arcades of Dresden Castle, but they tell it as a story and it is not documented. What is documented is the layout. The outsize date at 12 was already becoming the signature of the house, and the Arkade combined it with a small seconds and a manual winding movement of the L911 type, which holds 42 hours.

This example was made in 1996, only two years after the relaunch, in yellow gold with a silvered dial, gold lance hands and a gold buckle engraved Lange on a brown alligator strap. It was serviced in 2026, and the service papers are included together with the original box, the original papers and the original Lange stylus. It is very rare to find this specific watch with such a complete set of documentation and accessories.
