History and details :
In 1999, François-Paul Journe launched the Tourbillon Souverain à Remontoir d'Egalité with his F.P.Journe - Invenit et Fecit brand, the first model in the Souveraine Collection and the only wristwatch tourbillon with a Remontoir d'Egalité. An "Invenit et Fecit" - invented and made - mechanism by François-Paul Journe, offering unique chronometric performances.

Driven by chronometric research and his need to create, François-Paul Journe added a deadbeat second to the Remontoir d'Egalité in 2004. Its exceptional mechanism in 18-carat pink gold, visible through the sapphire back, takes up the Remontoir d'Egalité system, which has been dear to him since 1983 for its chronometric performance, and adds the "deadbeat seconds" system.

This complication, unique in a contemporary wristwatch, offers a more precise reading of time. The definition of "deadbeat seconds" is when the hand remains motionless (dead) until the second has elapsed; the hand then indicates the second when it has actually elapsed.

The Tourbillon Souverain à Remontoir d'Egalité avec Seconde Morte has the characteristics and technical requirements of the F.P.Journe creations. It replaces the Tourbillon Souverain à Remontoir d'Egalité produced from 1999 to 2003.

The dial has the specific identity of F.P.Journe chronometers, with the dial in 18-carat gold and the sub-dials for the hours, minutes and seconds in guilloché silver, held in place by a steel ring screwed onto the dial (patented system). The 42-hour power reserve positioned at 12 o'clock is perfectly balanced with the deadbeat seconds indication positioned at 6 o'clock.
